A bit about me and my writing journey.
-
I realized tonight as I sat here chatting with some very close friends, that you all really know very little about why it is I decided to focus on my writing and that so many people have so many questions for me.
Why is it I am questing so hard to get a book?
What is pushing me through this very tiring and exhausting journey?
Why haven’t I given up?I am sure you have many other questions and the truth is that I can’t really answer them all… but what I can tell you is some interesting stories… stories of coincidental chance encounters with people, that have forever shaped my future as a writer. So over the next few months I decided I will share some of these great and wonderful moments of my life with you all… so you can learn a little bit more about me… and my journey as a writer.
The first I will share is one of the bests in my opinion! and it means a time travel back to 2007 where I was given the wonderful chance to sit down with Eric Shaw… who was at that time one of the writers for the cartoon everyone knows and loves, Sponge Bob Square pants! I got to ask him about writing for children and we had a pretty wonderful chat. I wonder if he remembers it? Probably not… but it was something that I will never forget!
He helped steer me towards being more outgoing with my writing, up till that point I had a secret collection of fun writing that I never shared with anyone… actually I kind of shared nothing I wrote with anyone! Its amazing to think how that’s changed between now and back then.
I think that was probably one of the most interesting and influential meetings I had when it comes to my writing, he gave me the encouragement I needed at a time where teachers had completely crushed my dreams of ever becoming an author of any kind… And without this meeting I don’t think you would see all the work here up on this site at all!

How nice of him to be so encouraging and willing to talk to you, Matty! I will never think of Sponge Bob unkindly again 🙂
Thank goodness for your meeting with Eric Shaw. I have enjoyed your writings and look forward to new ones. That might never had happened if it hadn’t been for his encouragement. Keep writing and sharing.
