Dancing with Ephemeral Rain
-
NB: Inspired by something written by the talented and friendly poet Gretchen Leary and the rain still falling outside this minute
Dancing with Ephemeral Rain
The clouds up high begin to line the sky
A silver sheet, spread far and wide
I see the birds rush home, people take shelter
A lone cat quickly rushes into an open windowThen out of no where
As if a magic trick
A few single drops of water,
Slip quietly to the earthThen there are more…
As if a race had started,
hundreds and thousands!
No… a countless number! As they fall to the land,
Things begin to get damp
Puddles are made
Trees bathe in the wet. Some hit the roofs
From the buildings a plenty
Creating a tune
Like a symphony orchestraMy hands tap and dance
I feel part of the moment,
Playing along to the rhythm…
Creating something magnificentThen I feel like a dancer,
On stage in front of the world!
As the melody gets faster
I being to spin, jump and twirl!I shut my eyes tight
I feel so in tune
As I gracefully prance
Listening to the beauty. Then just as it had started,
It slowly begins to fade
I feel the need to take a bow…
The left over dripping my applauseMy heart still racing,
I take in breaths
My big moment was over,
I take another look out to the windowI see the skies silver lining begin to part.
Birds slowly return,
A lone cat emerging from a window,
Trees shimmering anew. Then I say out loud
But to who I don’t know…What was it that just happened?
Was it just some simple rain?
Or was it something so miraculous and beautiful,
That no words could ever explain…

Wonderful! How very beautiful, Matty. Your words paint the picture so clearly, I can even feel it!
Great job Matty! Nicely done! 😀
Stunning Matty I had a symphony of the sounds of rain, the trees in my head as I read it.
I love it .
It’s a standing ovation from the audience 🙂
