Birthday (poem)

  • A birthday is more than getting older
Its about celebrating the life you have
That there is another year of memories gathered
And there were times that you enjoyed it here.

Upon a time I was scared of my birthday
But no more do I have that fear.
There are happy memories for me to enjoy
Even in the darkest of years.

Like that second of giggling with someone I love,
Or my furry friend just sitting with me in the quiet.
That moment I read some wonderful words…
And that time after a storm when the sun shined through

I am glad I can see the happy memories now
Even when they are surrounded by tears,
That I can enjoy and marvel at the fact I am here
That the dread of time isn’t the end.

    Love Matty

I’m glad you don’t fear your birthday anymore. It’s one more year with you in the world and that’s a good thing. 🙂
