Science, Magic and Unicorns (Children’s Story!)

  • NB: I just really REALLY love Unicorns!

    Science, Magic and Unicorns

    “Knock, Knock, Knock”
    Wen the door my bedroom
    I was a bit confused,
No ones ever really knocked before.

    So I opened the door…
    And I was shocked
For right there in front of me…
    A Unicorn stood.

    “I think I am lost”
    The unicorn said,
    “can you help me?”
    She looked worried and scared.

    I nodded my head
    And invited her in,
I said “How can I help”
    “What can I do”

    “Well” she said
    With a very big breath
    “I can’t find a rainbow
To ride back to my home”

    I thought for a minute…
    “A rainbow?” I asked
And it was then I learned
    About how Unicorns travelled.

    “When you see a rainbow
    Its created by magic
    It allowed us to ride
    To very distant places.

“But I am a young Unicorn
    I can’t make a Rainbow yet!
    I need to get home
I miss my Mum and my Friends.”

I could see the Unicorn was sad,
    But I had an idea.
“Would any Rainbow work?” I asked
“Could use any to get home?”

    The Unicorn nodded.
    So the answer was yes.
    And then I knew
Just what I had to do.

I told the Unicorn to wait,
As I went through my draws.
I had had learned something from school
Which I knew would be helpful.

    I found a glass Triangle,
    It was called a Prism.
    I got out my flashlight
And I showed them to the Unicorn.

    “How will this help?”
    She said rather panicked.
    “I need a rainbow
    Now those strange things”

    But then I showed her
    Just how it worked
    I turned my flashlight
And shone it through the glass prism.

    And upon my bedroom walls
As if a magic of my own
    A rainbow appeared
    And Unicorn looked stunned.

    “A Rainbow she said!
    Quite excitedly.
“You have magic of your own!
    “This is amazing!”

    Then I witnessed it
    “Wow” I said
As the Unicorns horn glowed and
    And a magic window appeared.

    I looked inside
I could see her whole family and her friends!
They sure were happy to have her back
And as she galloped in, it all disappeared.

    I sat on my bed
Thinking as the rainbow shined upon my wall.
    “You know, She is right.
Science is a kind of magic I guess”

    I tidied everything up
Then I readied myself for bed

    “I hope she visits again
    Unicorns are great.”
    I said with a smile.
    Then yawned really big.

    Good night.
