The Windy Storm
-
NB: Last night was a big windy storm! The sky even flashed a few times and the power went in and out a bit! AND THE FENCE OUTSIDE BROKE!!! Luckily I had a good friend to contact 🙂 Who helped me feel better, it was very scary! I usually write poems like this but don’t usually share them, but I liked this one!
The Windy  Storm – September 10th  2013
From under my blankets
Outside in the black,
I hear a scary noise…
A howl-ish growl-ish roar.I slip my eyes out
From the safety and snug
The lights above flickering
As the trees outside danceIt shivers my spine
Creeks the poor house
Rattles the kitty door
While all the time getting louderIt seems to be mad
Whatever is grump-ing,
It gets louder and scarier!
Which makes me start gulping…And just as I think
It can’t get any more terrifying
I hear something else…
SNAP, CRACK AND CRASH!The lights outside…
They switch on from movement,
As I slowly crawl over…
To look out of my window,My eyes get wide
The fence has been broken!
As if it was bitten and spat out,
By something sure monstrousI begin to shake,
Scared and feared!
But then I get brave…
I contact my friend! She tells me its just wind!
No creature or monster!
Nothing terrifying outside!
And that inside I’m safe and cosy. After we finish,
I do feel much better
Stronger with the knowledge
That this is just weather!I sneak back whence I came,
To the snug and the safety,
I slip my eyes back under the blankets
And curl up very snooze-ily…Unsure of the morning,
And what adventures await me
As the now-known wind blows
Outside in the black.

I’m glad you’re safe.
Nice poem, Matty! I’m sorry the fence broke, but I’m glad you had a friend to call to reassure you. The wind can sure sound big, sometimes!
Great poem Matty, it captures the strength of the wind and your feelings very well. Hugs Vanessa
