A mended soul (Poem)

  • NB: I wrote this after a conversation with one of the most amazing people I know, Queen Helen of Fort Goat!

    A Mended Soul

    There I was
    A Torn soul
    Broken, Beaten…
    Without any hope.

    I was lost,
    Scared and alone
    The path ahead…
    It was dark… and unseen.

    But something inside me…
    Something deep and strange,
Well… it just kept me going.
It kept me moving through pain.

Jumping time… And here I am now,
    A mended soul
    With whispers of hope
    And thoughts of dreams…
    Goals to achieve.

    Looking at this journey
    This path that I’ve been
    And looking ahead…
    As long as it seems,
    I don’t know how I got here
    But I think I shouldn’t ask…

    And what’s ahead?
    Well I don’t know that either…
But what’s important is the path is lit
    I can see a future.

    I am blessed.

Matty, your poems are so sad and happy at the same time. I love reading them!

  • I love this poem, Matty. It’s been such a hard path, and you started from so far down! What a long, amazing way you’ve come. I know you don’t feel strong, but you are. I know you don’t feel beautiful, but you are. And you are smart. And wonderful. <3
