The New Puppy

  • NB: I hope you all like this little story.

    The New puppy

    Once upon a Day,
    That was quite like today
A little Puppy sat inside a dark box
    In fear and rather scared

He was told he had a new home
But new and different doesn’t always feel good
    And he was shaking
Wondering where it was he would go

    He heard strange sounds
    Loud and weird rumbles
    His box moved in wobbles
He was travelling by a car.

    Then…. quiet
    He had stopped moving….
    He made a little cry
Not knowing what was going on

    Then he heard her.
    A voice so very sweet
“Is my new friend in there’
It said. As a yes a whispered back.

Slowly the top of the box opened
    And light poured in
It was hard to see at first
Blurry, as he felt himself picked up

    And then before his eyes
A little girl stood holding him
    “Hello” she said
The little puppy gave her face a lick

“You are my friend” she said
    “And your name is Boo,
    You are home
    And I love you”

    Just like that,
The Puppy had its fears fade
    The tail wiggled,
    Then it wagged

    And just like that,
    Different was okay.
No more fear and no more scared
Instead a home and a friend.

    Adorable!

  • This made me cry in a beautiful way. I just got a new puppy myself (6 weeks ago). I worried she was afraid when she came home with us. What a wonderful thing it is to have her and I am sure she now feels safe and loved. I love our little Pearl and I love this poem!! xoxo

  • This is lovely! Gah, I really have to write more too. Love your writing style.
