I just know who I am

  • What is autism?
    Well I don’t know
    But I appear to have it
    Or so I am told

    It apparently changes how I act
    Or how I express myself.
    I hear it makes me different…
    Explains why things are hard,

    Like how every touch feels odd
    And why colors and lights feel loud
    Why some sounds really hurt my brain
    And smells can make me feel strange

    This autism thing…
    I don’t know what it is,
    I just know who I am
    And I hope that’s an okay thing.
