Speed writing exercise – Dash the Busy Bunny (Children’s)
It was a rather happy day, the sky was blue and the trees were green, the flowers were all in bloom. And in a little hole about 3 apples in length a bunny slowly emerged from their nap, a bunny whose name was Dash.
Dash was a rather speedy character, I suppose that is how they got their name? They often ran from here to there and there to here, going about their day.
As dash stretched and look around, their little nose twitched and it was then they smelt the most beautiful of smells, fresh vegetables. With a deep breath in and a big breath out, Dash opened their eyes as wide as it will go.
“Vegetables”
He said with a smile.
“This is going to be a perfect day”
Dash quickly dashed as Dash often does and it wasn’t long before reaching the source of the beautiful smell. There before their very eyes, was a tipped over box full of the most delicious things Dash could imagine.
Dash picked up what they could, their tummy grumbled not out of hunger… but out of desire and the dream of what was to come. Dash quickly made their way back home, as fast as they could carrying all they could with their small little arms.
Dash then ran on the way home to their little hole as fast they could, but then suddenly in their path was a small little Deer. Who looked rather confused.
Dash stopped right on the spot.
“Oh little Deer, what is wrong?”
Asked Dash with a very concerning tone.
“I am hungry”
said the little Deer, I have just begun living on my own in this big world and it is sure very difficult.
Dash looked at all they were carrying… and took a deep breath as they got closer to the little Deer
“Little Deer, you can have some of mine.”
Dash slowly placed the food before the little Deer, and feeling rather good yet sad about their sacrifice ran as fast as they could back to the tipped over box.
Once again Dash filled their little arms up with everything they could carry, then began running as fast as they could back home, but stopped as they came upon a rather sad looking Turtle.
Dash stopped right on the spot.
“Oh Turtle, what is wrong today?”
Asked Dash with a very concerning tone.
“Why I am a bit lost, My friend Dash. I seem to have forgotten where the pond is again, and is it very much past lunchtime.
Dash nodded
“Oh my friend Turtle, I know the way its right behind that tree, that one… you seem be standing in front of”
Turtle nodded,
“Why thank you kind Dash, I always do that… get lost when I am not lost at all. Of course it is past lunchtime and I am quite hungry, and I see you have a lot of food.”
Dash looked at all they were carrying… and took a deep breath as they got closer to the Turtle.
“Turtle, you can have some of mine.”
Dash slowly placed the food before the Turtle, and feeling rather good yet sad about their sacrifice ran as fast as they could back to the tipped over box.
Once again Dash filled their little arms up with everything they could carry, then began running as fast as they could back home, but stopped as they came upon a Hedgehog looking rather sad.
“Oh my friend Hedgehog, what is wrong today?”
Hedgehog looked up at Dash and said “I have no one to eat lunch with”
Dash looked at Hedgehog excitedly, “well that is something I will be very happy to fix.”
