The Bothersome Tree Stump – Part 3
-
NB: Here is the final part, part 3! of The Bothersome Tree Stump! this is one of the longest stories I have written in a VERY long time. I bet there is a lot of errors in it, so if you spot anything, let me know!
The Bothersome Tree Stump -Part 3
The guests were all greeted,
As Lord Pig Dig-a-lot put them down!
The Honourable Queen Helen began to shake
Their hooves, paws and trunks
Princess Nom Nom’s blindfold was removed,
And she stretched out with a yawn!
They were all guided to the tree stump,
And began to stare at it in ponder.Prince Epic then announced,
“This is the stump!
Yes it is…
We need it moved,
Its in a spot most perfect for other things!”“Stand back!”
Said Longnose the Purple,
Us elephants can do all sorts of things,
Especially when we are Purple!”All of the others stood back,
As Longnose the  Purple stepped forward,
They all took a breath
And watched the elephant work!First Longnose the purple tried to push it…
However they had no luck at making it budge !
Then they tried to stomp it…
Only that probably just made it more stuck! They took water in their trunk,
And then tried to spray it as hard as they could!
Only that just made the tree stump wet,
Including Sheila Puppy who was watching,As Sheila Puppy began to shake herself dry
Putting water on everyone else
Who was nearby!
Longnose the Purple,
With a rather pouty look…
Walked over to the others and said,“I’m sorry,
I can’t move it
I tried my best
I did, I did!”Prince Epic, who may possibly be a moose
Patted Longnose the Purple on the back saying…“Its ok, I couldn’t either!”
Then with a gently tap,
From Sheila Puppys large paw,
Her highness the Princess kitty
Was slowly pushed forward,“Its your turn to help,
You said you were an expert at everything,They all watched excitedly,
Waiting for her to act!
They had heard stories about the leader,
Of the great Kingdom of Bedroom…
Who knew so much about everything,
That creatures travelled far just to speak with her!“To move this stump…”
Princess Nom Nom said scratching her head…
“Yes!!”
The others said,
All leaning forward
Even the Honorable Queen Helen
Thought this was the solution they were after“To move this stump,
I believe…
That we need to…”Then there was an awkward silence,
As everyone waited,
And finally she spoke her answer!“To move this stump!
We must all,
Put out our long claws,
And scratch at it till it moves on…”She said rather proudly,
And sounding like a know-it-all,
Everyone just blinked…
As they all had no claws to use…
So the only way to move the stump,
Just would not work!Then finally,
Lord Pig Dig-alot stepped forward,
Saying quite loud so everyone could hear!“I know a way,
Yes I do!
We can move this tree stump
Even without some claws!”The others replied
“HOW!!!”
Well, all but Her Highness the Princess Kitty
She thought they had bigger problems than just moving the Tree Stump
They all had no claws at all!
They should be working on fixing that,
She thought,
Still rather shocked at what she had learned!Lord Pig Dig-A-lot
Then told them how they could move the tree stump,
If they all worked together,
And he showed them how,
They could dig the tree stump out
And just push it away! They all nodded,
Apart from the Princess Kitty,“Princesses like I,
Who have such fine fur
Cannot take part in such things as digging,
Wake me up when your all done,
However I think you should all be growing claws!”However they took no notice of her bossy fussy words,
As they had already,
All set to work! With Lord Pig Dig-A-lot taking charge
They dug, and they dug
All around the tree stump!!
It wasn’t long at all,
Till the digging had made it loose,
Even Sheila Puppy was joining in!
This stump indeed would move! Then at last,
After quite some time…
They had dug it out enough!
That it was able to be moved. Then they stopped,
As they tied a rope around it!
And then all of them together,
Began to push the tree stump,
Which was loose from all their digging! And it moved once…
Then it moved twice,
Side to side it went
As they pushed it and rocked it!Then at last it came out,
Right out of the ground!
The tree stump that was in a spot!
That was most perfect for other stuff,Everyone cheered!
Even her Highness
Princess Nom Nom Booksitting Bagsleeping Fattycat Swishytail The first!!
Was excited the Stump was moved,
That in itself, meant a lot! They then, were all invited
By Prince Epic who may possibly be a moose!
And the Honourable Queen Helen, ruler of Fort Goat!
To a party, to celebrate,
There success of moving the stump…
Which truly had made them all so happy,
An offer they could not turn down! They all had done something useful,
Even if at first it didn’t seem so obviousPrince Epic, Who may possibly be a Moose
Found the stump to start with!
That needed to be moved,The Honourable Queen Helen
Who was there for Prince Epic to tell
And provided many thought noises
To help think out how to move it well! Then there was Sheila Puppy,
Who had the great idea!
To gather people from all around
Who could help move the Tree Stump away! Then of course,
The three of smarts
Who had come from so very far!
Just to help move the tree Stump
Even if they had other things to get done!Longnose the Purple,
Who had a very long nose
And was an expert mover
From the great MattyLand! Her Highness the Princess Kitty
Princess Nom Nom Booksitting Bagsleeping Fattycat Swishytail the First!
Ruler of the Kingdom of Bedroom
And the smartest and best there is…
Well at least according to herAnd finally Lord Pig Dig-a-lot
Brother of Lord Pig Pig-a-lot
Who was an expert digger!
From the great Kingdom of Pigglylot! And as they all celebrated,
Talking about the long day been,
Everyone one of them with a smile!
Laughing and giggling! They realized it could not have been done
This great moving of the tree stump
That was in the most perfect place,
For so much other stuff!Unless they all had worked together
Each one of them offering help
For some-things can’t be alone
And this was one of them.

What a great story! It’s so true that lots of things just can’t be done unless we all work together! I’m so glad that Princess Nomnom and Lord Pig Dig-a-lot and Longnose the Purple were so willing to help, and that Sheela puppy is the wonderful pup that she is 🙂 I will tell Epic the story tomorrow!
Great story matty….. many of the usual suspects involved lol
I like the way you use words to describe things!! 🙂
Couple of things i did noticed that could be a mistake??
*In paragraph # 8…. in one sentence you have the words her-her used twice but i think it should only be once??
*When they get to mattyland part you have written ” nodded *their* head….. when you are talking of matty himself
*also when Lord Longnose the Purple is mentioned as *they* when trying to move the stump at the start of part three……
these sneaky teeny weeny mistakes certainly didn’t take any thing away from another great adventure though….. thankyou for putting it on here for others to enjoy!!
( i have now worked out how to put this site on my favorites bar….. so don’t have to go looking for the link to this site on your thread each time matty, so yaaay!!)
Take Care…..
Hello Starry
I fixed mistake one,
Mistake two about the “their” I am not sure how to fix that because I do not want to call longnose the purple a girl or a boy, and the same goes for when Matty nods their head, I don’t want to say girl or boy 🙂 so I use “their” instead.
I did change the bit where Matty nods their head to make it a bit better looking…
I guess I am using their and they instead of he or she… for now I can’t fix it because I am not sure if there is a word that is not he or she to describe someone doing something. Its the trap of english I think. I thought about this a lot.
🙂
If you or others have any bestest neat wonderifical ideas on that problem let me know!
A most beautiful story and one every child and adult should read…its about getting along with each other and what can be done if all put forth the effort…Great Story…love it…hugggies
I get what you mean about the use of the words matty….. it does not take anything away from the story at all though! 🙂
Hey wonder if this will work?? just for you matty……. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
