That dream that holds me

  • NB: This is part of a story I wrote, but I don’t want to share that story… not yet anyway. But I thought I would share the words of a character of mine, they are beautiful, yet sad… they also mean something to me.

We all have something we hold onto, a dream that we cling to… A dream that keeps us going through dark moments… we may not always realize it, but it is true… Sometimes those dreams are short term such as what you will be doing on the weekend and sometimes they are long term… At least… this is what I believe.

    That dream that holds me

My soul is screaming for the fields of milk and honey
With lush grass and clear skies
Flowers, bees and trees so tall
They rise higher than the eyes…
But I cannot give in to my souls desires yet
For without this dream I would surely crumble
But I will guard it close to my heart,
    And when the time comes…
    When my dues are paid…
I can give in to the desire,
And rest at last in peace.
