Waiting… Waiting…

  • NB: just waiting…

    Waiting… Waiting…

    She paced back and forward,
As she looked at the time
    She felt nervous and afraid
    As anxiety shivered her body,

    She found a corner wall
Then slouched down into a ball
    She took a deep breath
    And exhaled so slowly…

She then rested her head upon her knees
    Keeping her ears free to listen and her eyes keenly watching;
    She kept on waiting… waiting…
    She kept on Hoping… praying…

Hoping that she was not forgotten,
Praying that she was not ghost today,
That her patience would be rewarded
And that her day would end in smiles

But slowly her hope began to fade,
    And her head began wander,
Her eyes drifted to the ground
And her ears began to zone out

She slowly dragged her finger in the ground,
Drawing a doodle in the dust,
    Listening to her own thoughts
As her nose began to sniffle

Then at last she let out tears
    Tears that stained her drawing,
    Accepting the reality,
Today was not the day she longed for

    She then slowly got up
    And wiped her stinging eyes
“Not today…” she whispered to herself
And began her journey to somewhere safe,

    And as she quietly left
Just as quietly as she had come
Her stained doodle remained in the dust,
    A heart filled with love
    Inside it some words.

    “Some day soon” it read
    “I still have hope
    I haven’t given up
    I will wait again tomorrow”
