Where am I going? (Childrens/fun poem)

  • NB: For all who gets anxious about every unexpected adventure.

    Where am I going?

    Where am I going?
    What will I choose?
Will it be here or there?
    Will I be wearing shoes?

    I wonder what clothing?
    Bright colours or black?
Will where I’m going be happy?
    Or just very, very sad?

I wonder what it is that I will see?
    Strange buildings?
    Tall Trees?
    A giraffe who likes cheese?

    How will I get there?
    Do you think by train?
    Perhaps a car?
    Or a dragon pulled sleigh?

    Who will I meet?
Do you think they’ll be kind?
    What if their scary?
Like a vampire who likes pie?

Do you think it will be boring?
    With nothing to do?
    A big empty room?
    With no window to view?

    Oh where am going?
    What will I choose?
Will it be here or there?
    I really hope I have shoes…

Beatiful as always & perfectly worded. I love how you help give a view into the mind. As a Mom, every Tid bit helps from those who live this journey.

  • I agree with Brenda Matty, your poetry and prose both help me to understand better those who are on the autism spectrum. I don’t have anyone close who I can learn from, but Matty your awesome work has taught me so much over the years I’ve known you and it has taught me to be so much more tolerant in my everyday life. Nowadays if I see a child screaming in a supermarket I no longer assume it’s a naughty child, instead I send a little prayer and rainbow thoughts of love and peace toward the parent and child. One day Matty your awesome insights will make a very helpful book.

  • Love this poem, Mattie. 🙂 This one somehow reminds me of a poet I liked when I was a kid: A.A. Milne. Milne wrote the Winnie the Pooh books, but also wrote two books of poetry for kids that I adored! Have you read them? “Now We Are Six” and “When we ere Very Young”

  • Heh. I’m glad you have shoes! What a fun poem 🙂 Hugs!
